Development Project

We are extremely proud of the facilities that exist at our home on Creggs Road, Glenamaddy. To have this in the
heart of our town means so much and it is a central hub to the community, with everyone welcome.

We have operated with great difficulty in recent years with only one pitch serving all of our teams mens, ladies, adults and juveniles.

Hello All,

I am delighted to share with you a significant update in relation to the exciting future development of our GAA Grounds here in Glenamaddy, which will provide a world class facility for generations to come in a welcome and inclusive environment for all.

After years of hard work, ambitious planning, and dreaming, we as a club have formulated a strategy to bring our dreams to life. In this brochure,we detail those dreams.
We have recently purchased a 7.5 acre field beside our existing dressing rooms, which has allowed us to put together plans to develop this facility over the next 3 years.

The development plans include:

  • 64m X 34m Indoor Astro Turf Arena

  • 20m X 15m Public Gym

  • Modern Facilities Building with 4 Large Dressing Rooms and Disability Equipment Storage

  • Floodlit Public Walking Track Around Site Perimeter

  • Second Full Size 4G Astro Playing Pitch

  • 300-Seat Spectator Stand with Wheelchair Access

  • New Car Park including Disability and Electric Vehicle Spaces and Bicycle Shelter

  • Improved lighting and landscaping upgrade

The above has been carefully thought through by both the development committee and the finance committee which have been setup and dedicated to deliver this project. Our development committee has travelled the length and breadth of the country to visit different facilities, putting in strategic R&D hours to ensure we bring the best of everything to our own future development. A planning application was submitted on the 19th of April to the Galway County Council. At this point, we are extremely honoured to announce our sponsor and main contributor to this development, PJ & Mary Fahy of ECC Timber Products, who have donated a sum of €2million to this project.

Both PJ & Mary are heavily involved in the mens and ladies club and have a strong interest in the development of our community. Commenting on the development PJ said, “We are delighted to support the development of a centre of excellence here in Glenamaddy. A lot of work has gone into developing the overall plan and it will require
the help of the whole community to get the project completed by 2025. I look forward to seeing the fantastic new facilities in full use for the benefit of all.”

We can only wholeheartedly thank PJ & Mary Fahy for their life changing donation to this community. We will be forever grateful. Given the scale and ambition of the development, it is now that the hard work will start. Our finance committee have formulated a fundraising plan over the next 3 years.

I would like to acknowledge and thank all the past club officers who have contributed greatly over the years to have the facilities that we have currently, and we can now build on their work.
It will take a monumental effort, but knowing the ambitious people of Glenamaddy, we are confident that this dream will soon become our reality.

Our Plans

We have recently purchased a 7-acre field behind our dressing rooms which has now allowed us the chance to dream big, and develop a facility that we believe will revolutionise life in our community.

This has lead to an ambitious concept that includes a new second pitch, a new 64metre X 34metre indoor Astro-turf facility, a new facilities building, new dressing rooms, a large 350m2 modern Gym that will be open to the public and a
new carpark.

We also plan to have a public walking track
around the perimeter for all to use, along with a new stand for watching our home games.

A planning application will
be submitted in early March.

Astro Turf and Gym

Under our Chairman Pat Geraghty, Secretary Mairead Hunt, Treasurer Aidan Geraghty and our executive board we have setup both a development committee and a
finance committee dedicated to deliver this project.

There is a lot more interest today on regenerating
rural Ireland and if we can develop facilities like this,
it will help keep people in the area and deepen the
sense of community

Our Plans

finance committee which have been setup and dedicated to deliver this project.

Our development

Concept Ideas

The Indoor Astro Turf Arena would transform our club facilities and provide a service to
the surrounding communities that is availableall 52 weeks of the year, during any type of weather.

Given the large size of the pitch, it may be used concurrently as a multi-game arena.
A standout feature of our development, this will allow both adults and children to exercise
freely in a safe environment.

Our new public gym will be filled with state of the art equipment, to ensure the needs of all
users are met. Given the large 15m X 20m space, it will allow for a spacious and comfortable experience for all.

This facility will be made available for all members of the public to join, with public classes available also.

Concept Ideas

Having a second GAA pitch would provide tremendous availability for all teams and users of our current facility.

We have Glenamaddy/Williamstown Ladies Football Club, Northern Gaels underage GAA, and Glenamaddy GAA currently sharing a rota of the pitch and this would allow all to use simultaneously, along with the community of Glenamaddy and beyond. It’s
worth noting that we regularly allow the use of the facility to the Glenamaddy CommunitySchool which has over 500 pupils with a large catchment area.

Our Proposed Strategy

We have a three year plan in place with our end goal to have the
project fully completed by 2025
